Meet Pretty: A Future Teacher in the Making

Pretty is a determined five-year-old girl from Gulu district in northern Uganda. Despite her young age, Pretty already dreams of becoming a professional teacher, inspired by her love for learning and her desire to help others grow. She loves to spend her time playing with dolls, swinging, and dancing to traditional music—activities that reflect her joyful spirit and love for her culture.

Pretty lives with her mother and six siblings in a household affected by the challenges of poverty. Her mother works tirelessly in local gardens, striving to provide for the family. Despite her hard work, it's difficult to afford the essentials needed for Pretty to stay in school, such as tuition, uniforms, and books. As a result, Pretty's school attendance has been irregular, and she often finds herself sent home, missing out on the education she values so much.

Still, Pretty’s love for learning shines through. She is a bright student, performing very well when she has the chance to attend school. With your support, Pretty can continue her education regularly and move closer to her goal of becoming a teacher.
